BOTOX® Cosmetic plays an key role in the dental office. BOTOX treats clinching, grinding and TMJ symptoms. There are also added benefits of minimized smile lines. Dr. Ashley Lanman is Dentox certified and trained through Allergan and Radiesse for BOTOX treatment of facial lines and winkles.
What is BOTOX®
BOTOX is a prescription medicine, specifically an FDA-approved botulinum toxin, that when injected into muscles improves the appearance of moderate to severe skin lines. It contains a purified protein and 2 inactive ingredients. Because the protein is derived from living organisms, BOTOX is considered a biologic product.
Masterpiece Smiles uses BOTOX to treat muscle strain leading to jaw clenching and grinding as well as treatment of migraine headaches. BOTOX when used in a very specific muscle group can help patients with TMJ symptoms and help with elimination of migraine headache pain. Since BOTOX produces a relaxation of specific treated muscles, a nice side effect is diminished wrinkles in the treated area. Get the subtle results you’ve been looking for, you can get treated in both frown lines and crow’s feet areas at the same time – the beauty of BOTOX Cosmetic. Consult Masterpiece Smiles and see what BOTOX Cosmetic can do for you.
What are the benefits of BOTOX®
BOTOX is a nonsurgical treatment that improves the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in people 18-65 years of age for a short period of time. The treatment is quick, usually less than 15 minutes, and requires no downtime or recovery. With a few tiny injections, BOTOX blocks nerve impulses to the muscles in your forehead – called the corrugators and procerus muscles-reducing their movement. This decreased muscle activity helps lessen the appearance of wrinkles and lines giving real, noticeable results.
What results are expected with BOTOX®
BOTOX improves the appearance of frown lines and wrinkles by smoothing the appearance of the skin yielding noticeable results. You can still frown or look surprised but without the wrinkles and creases.
What can I expect during treatments with BOTOX®
BOTOX starts to work within 24-48 hours. In clinical trials, a majority of people saw noticeable improvements at 7 days, with results continuing to improve for up to one month. Visible results have been proven to last up to 4 months.
What aftercare is recommended following BOTOX® treatment
It is recommended that you remain upright for 4 hours after injection. You are asked to avoid taking ibuprofen, aspirin, or Vitamin E for 24 hours after injection. You are instructed not to massage or manipulate the injection sites for 48 hours after injection.

Since 2002, more than 11 million procedures have been performed using BOTOX and it is approved in 75 different countries for aesthetic use.
